Fathers Day, 2008
Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there.
Being a father of two, I had a pretty good day today. Woke up to breakfast in bed, a huge baked pancake (a favorite dish at our house). The kids gave me some hand painted coffee mug things that are pretty cute, too. Got lots of love.
I was happy to go and race at Mt. Tabor today. That's a pretty interesting course. You go up, it hurts, you go down, rest up. Rinse, and repeat. Only 12 times for the lowly Cat 3's, but by lap 12, I was getting pretty tired. Cat 1/2s did 30 laps. Ouch.
Donna and the girls came out to catch the end of the race today. That doesn't happen very often, and I wish I'd gotten a podium position. Hills aren't exactly my thing, unless they are pointing down. I'd like another shot at this course, though.
After all that, we went and picked up a cool gas grill for my dad. My lil' sisters met up to deliver it, and we all went out for dinner. Annelis drew portraits of everyone while we waited for our food. We had a nice time.
Finally home, I went for a little walk with Annelis and the dog. We found Velonew's 2008 Tour de France issue in the mailbox, and previewed all of the 21 stages at story time. By the time we got to the alps, my girls were expressing how painful the HC climbs were looking, Mette noting how fun the descents must be. I wonder if they'll watch the Tour with me this year...
Yup, it was a pretty good day for me :)
