If viable, that would be HUGE!  My favorite part:

What's exciting about the Gliocladium roseum fungus, however, is that it can both break down cellulose and synthesize the liquid fuel.

We don't have to process the raw resources, because the fungus does it for us. 

Of course, we'd still be dirtying up the planet by burning oil, but this is still interesting.
