Nathan makes good mock-ups

Note - be sure to vote...

I got this email today from Nathan Pryor:

I've enjoyed following this LeMond restoration, but I've got to say that something as crucially important as bike color just CAN'T be left to MS Paint!   ;)  I've mocked up bike paint a few times before for my own projects and have gotten pretty quick at it -- shadow layer, highlight layer, color layers -- so when I saw your post I just had to take a shot at it. Feel free to swap out the pics I've attached so your voters have a better representation (no more having to squint), or at least add the sweet camo mockup to the vote.

-Nathan

In my defense, I didn't use MS Paint!  But he is right, oh so right.  Check out his images below, which even include Camo!?!  Nathan has skillz.  He took this:

nothing

And made these:

black blue camo  orange white

I've replaced the images in the Color Vote.  If you haven't voted yet, do!  I think it's set up to allow one vote per 24 hours.  Thanks Nathan.

Very nice! Makes me wonder what a little airbrushing of the fork's multi-colors would look like on the head tube. You could pull it off with a couple of rattle cans...

Orange looks the best (close second to the cookie monster blue). Unfortunately, you already have an orange bike (a single speed (fixed gear) at that).
Don't you know that you can't have two exact colored bikes in your stable at the same time. Variety is the spice of life.

For the record, the camo write-in vote wasn't mine, but I just had to see how wrong it really would look.

Na, that was Frank who voted camo. I'm impressed you did it, though.

Good point Dan. I'll do orange bar tape if black wins.

Still have to go with the orange, on account of leaving the fork as is. Otherwise, well, I'd still go with orange!

Leaving the fork as is, the orange is clearly the best color. A not too close second is the blue -- just try to pick the blue in the fork.

Cool, thanks for the comments. Be sure to vote at http://www.erikv.com/color/round2

Even though I voted for black, I would like to see a scheme that had black as the base and a flutter of the orange, blue, and white as accents around the bottom bracket, rear dropouts and seatpost/stays cluster. You know splash it a round a bit. Having that much color concentrated right at the fork crown just doesn't call for a solid frame color. My .02

That would be nice, David. Probably pretty spendy, though.

All choices are good, but nothing looks better than white. White bike, white fork. Use BBC colors for panels /lettering. So nice.
